Howard Clinton Zahniser (b.1906) was an American environmental activist. He worked for the Biological Survey, later known as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (1931-1943). Zahniser also served as Executive Secretary of the Wilderness Society and editor of its magazine: Living Wilderness (1945-1964). He was instrumental in drafting legislation which later became known as the Wilderness Act (1964).
